The state of engineering demographics and skills in South Africa’s manufacturing sector |
Introduction
A major study is underway, commissioned by the SADC Ministers of Science and Technology, to determine whether SADC countries have an adequate number of engineers, engineering technologists and technicians to support industrialisation plans and economic growth. Please contribute to the Engineering Needs and Numbers study by sharing the number of engineering staff that your company employs and develops, and your views on skills challenges facing manufacturing in South Africa. The survey asks for numbers of engineers, technologist and technicians by discipline, race and gender.
If you have accurate information, please refer to the information while completing the survey. If you do not have accurate statistics, kindly estimate the numbers to give an indication of the spread of engineering skills in your organisation.
