Connecting Future Leaders

In 2013, TXCPA Houston launched a four-week initiative dedicated to professional growth and networking. This program aims to enhance the vital skills required for success in both your career and community. The 2024 program emphasizes executive leadership qualities, focusing on self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management.

Program overview: Each session will progressively enhance your skills, starting with a personalized assessment using The Birkman Method to foster self-awareness. Subsequent sessions will cover conflict management, interpersonal communication refinement, and teamwork skills development.

Accelerate = "Connecting Future Leaders" Professional Development & Networking Program
Cost: $625 TXCPA members; $725 nonmembers
(Membership available: TXCPA Membership
CPE credit: 12 hours (three hours per session instruction)
Class size: Limited to 20 current and future leaders of the accounting, legal, and finance professions

Who will benefit:
  • Professionals will acquire leadership skills and make lifelong contacts with like-minded future leaders.
  • Employers will benefit from the training and insight that participants receive and bring back to their organizations.
  • TXCPA Houston will benefit by developing future leaders.

Who is eligible:
TXCPA Houston members, or non-CPA accounting, finance, or legal professionals, working at the senior, manager, or equivalent level and having a minimum of two years experience

Accelerate format: This one-month program consists of one session each week of the operating month. In 2024, enjoy an in-person happy hour to connect with Society leadership and fellow session members on the week preceding the program's initial session on October 23. Each Thursday morning session (7:30-10:30 a.m.) will begin with dedicated networking time before discussions. The program culminates with a lunch and roundtable discussion.

Program alumni benefits include:
  • Inclusion in an alumni directory that all alumni members receive after each session (listing to include name, company, and email address)
  • Invitation to periodic, alumni-only events
  • Enhanced exposure to leadership opportunities at not-for-profits, including TXCPA and TXCPA Houston.
