National Judicial Competition Application
Dear National Judicial Competition Applicant,
The YMCA National Judicial Competition (NJC) is an annual competition for high school student participants in the model judicial components (Mock Trial and Appellate/Moot Court) of the YMCA Youth and Government program. Each Youth and Government state program selects students from their state to compete in either the Mock Trial or Appellate Court competitions at NJC.
The YMCA National Judicial Competition will be July 29 – August 1, 2024 in St. Paul, MN at the DoubleTree by Hilton St. Paul Downtown & Minnesota State Capitol
This is the first time the New York State YMCA program would be taking delegates, so we will first need to ensure there is enough interest to merit participation. Participants do not have to have participated in the Judicial Program at the State Conference, though it is an advantage, and will be a deciding factor if there are too many applicants.
By filling out this application you are indicating your interest in being one of the students selected and acknowledging that you have read this application completely. If selected for this opportunity you are agreeing to spend at least one hour per week preparing from your selection until the conference.
This Application is Due by March 31st.
Travel
Travel will be arranged once the size of the group is determined. We will fly from NYC to Minneapolis on the morning of July 29th and return the night of the August 1st. If you need to arrange your own travel either or both ways, that can be accommodated. Finalized details will be available by April 15th.
Conference Cost
Cost will be $650 + Travel+ Meals. 2 Dinners are included with the cost of the conference registration. Travel will be determined by April 15th and a cost will be determined. $300-$500 can be expected, though we will be doing everything we can to minimize cost. Prices may lower if we get a large response. We understand this is a very expensive program and will only offer it if the demand is present from the students and their families.
