Testimonial for the NDCO ‘Create Your Future – Personal stories of disability and cultural diversity in study and work’ films
We are asking for your feedback on the ‘Create Your Future – Pesonal stories of disability Films'
The National Disability Coordination Officers, along with an advisory committee comprised of Multicultural Disability Advocacy Association, Settlement Services International, Advanced Diversity Services and Why Documentaries have recently developed three films which showcase the successes and challenges experienced by people with disability from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds. The aim of the project has been to build the aspiration of people with disability from CALD backgrounds in tertiary education and employment and to create deeper and broader cultural understandings to encourage culturally safe, accessible and inclusive support services.
The three completed films were launched at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS) on March 28 and have been made available online and to a broad audience. The films have been shared according to a social media calendar developed with guidance from Why Documentaries. This included social media content for sharing on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. In order to capture the reach of the films, they have been uploaded to Facebook and then embedded at http://bit.ly/NDCOCreateYourFuture. This webpage includes all 3 videos as well as links and information to in language resources. Since the launch of the films, the website has had a significant increase in visits. The films are freely available for distribution to people with disability and those from CALD communities.
We write to request that you complete a brief survey to give us some insight as to how you have used the films in providing services and supports to people with disability and/ or those from CALD communities.
Please do not hesitate to also provide written testimonials by return email or telephone if you prefer.
