Community Schools Summit- August 19th 9:00am-3:00pm

* 2. Each breakout session will be presented twice during the summit. Please rank the sessions you would like to attend 1-8. Participants will be assigned to breakout sessions on a first come first served basis.

  1. Community Schools and the New York State Education Department (NYSED) Connection: Learn about NYSED guidance and regulations for Community Schools, Community Engagement Teams (CET), and the connection to Receivership Schools in the RCSD.
  2. Implementing the ABCD Model/Framework Rochester: How one school in the RCSD has used the ABCD model currently being implemented in a RCSD Community School.
  3. The Principal Role in the Community School Model: Hear from principals about the critical role they play in developing and engaging the community in the Community Schools model.
  4. The Social Determinants of Health: Social determinants of health are the conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work and age. Learn about the work going on in Rochester and the role of community schools.
  5. Engaging the Whole Family-The First 1,000 Days of Life: Engaging the whole family through building a community school mindset that supports the whole family cradle to career. This session will focus on the importance of The First 1,000 Days of life and its unique period of opportunity when the foundations of optimum health, growth, and neurodevelopment across the lifespan are established.
  6. Knowing the Assets of Your Community: Hear from Community School Site Coordinators about the role they play in engaging the community in completing a needs assessment that will build a unique structure for each Community School to best serve their students and families.
  7. Asset Based Community Development: Creating Sustainable Community Schools Based on Strengths and Potentials: Asset Based Community Development Q&A: Expert Advice on How To Use ABCD Approach to Develop and Implement Community School Models:
  8. The 4 C’s-Community~Collabortion~Conversation~Collective Impact: Hear from our community members and the roles they play in making our Community Schools successful including students, parents, providers, philanthropists, and CET members.
