The substance use disorder (SUD) and drug overdose epidemic continues to impact Kansas. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) reports that 738 Kansas residents died from a drug overdose in 2022. This represents an 8.8% increase in the total number of drug overdose deaths from 2021.

In response to this increase, the Kansas Prescription Drug and Opioid Advisory Committee is conducting a needs assessment to guide the development of the annual update to the Kansas Overdose Prevention Strategic Plan. The purpose of this survey is to better understand the public’s views on factors that have influenced the SUD and drug overdose epidemic in Kansas and various prevention/mitigation strategies Kansas Overdose Prevention Strategic Plan.

Participation in this survey is voluntary. Kansas residents ages 18 and older are eligible to participate. This survey should take approximately ten minutes to complete. The results of this survey are anonymous. Please respond to the questions below by July 12, 2024.
