Equestrian Club & Venues Survey July 2017 |
Introduction
Thank you to the 28 Queensland clubs and 19 show societies that have recently taken part in our facilities survey.
Click HERE to see how the information has already been populated into the mapping tool and we thank those clubs in taking the time to take part in this initiative.
EQ would like to see 100% of our clubs and sport affiliates details in the mapping tool. To assist with efficiency and in respecting your time, the survey size has been reduced from approximately 70 questions to 40, so should take approximately 15 minutes to complete.
What does this mean for your club or group?
Participants of Equestrian sports will be able to easily see on a map where their local equestrian clubs, groups, show societies and venues are. By completing the survey, the participants will be able to see what facilities you have to offer them in their surrounding areas and which disciplines you offer.
As part of Equestrian Queensland’s (EQ’s) strategic priorities, we will continue to work closely with the Department of Infrastructure Development Planning and Management Sport & Recreation Services, to utilise a GIS (geographic information system) that the Department has been developing. Sport and Recreation Services (SRS) has been seeking to include information regarding sport and recreation venues, the infrastructure at those venues, and the users (membership) to facilitate better planning by and for the sport. Equestrian is fortunate to be included in a select group of sports working with the department and EQ is honored to be coordinating the project with its affiliates and industry partners.
A geographic information system (GIS) plots data onto a map to allow us to visualize, question, analyze, and interpret data, and to understand relationships, patterns, and trends. GIS benefits organizations of all sizes and in almost every industry. There is a growing interest in, and awareness of the economic and strategic value of GIS. With GIS technology, people can compare the locations of different things in order to discover how they relate to each other.
We ask that all Equestrian clubs, groups, show societies and venue owners/operators complete this by no later than Monday 4 September 2017. If you need assistance please contact either Samantha Duffy (manager@equestrianqld.com.au) or Christine Thompson (clubs@equestrianqld.com.au) or phone us on 3891 6611.
For those clubs/groups or society committees that have already completed the survey or who complete the survey by Monday 4 September, one affiliate will receive a 2018 membership to the value of $270.00.
