Following the amendment to Regulation (EU) No 165/2014, smart tachograph version 2 must be fitted in:
  • all newly registered vehicles, as of 21 August 2023;
  • all registered vehicles equipped with analogue and digital tachograph (G1) engaged in international road transport operations and cabotage, by 31 December 2024;
  • all registered vehicles equipped with Smart Tachograph version 1 (G2V1) engaged in international road transport operations and cabotage, by 18 August 2025.
Companies are recommended to make a retrofit planning, to ensure that their vehicles engaged in international transport are retrofitted during their periodical inspection visit to the workshop (taking place every 2 years).
