Barriers to Creative Opportunities

Oregon Supported Living Program has received grants from Collins Foundation and Oregon Community Fund to develop a program that assists arts & culture centers across Oregon in evaluating and addressing barriers to participation in their programming for people experiencing disabilities.

 

The objective of this survey is to determine barriers to participation in creative and cultural experiences at public and private arts, music, and performance centers, for people who experience disabilities (such as arts & culture classes/workshops, community arts events, contributing to art exhibitions, attending gallery receptions, attending or contributing to artist talks and focus groups, participating in public art projects, participating in and attending music and theater performances, etc.) as well as to identify ways to address and remove these barriers to increase access to creative and cultural experiences for people with disabilities.

 

The information gathered from this survey will aid our efforts to assist arts agencies across the state in overcoming barriers to participation in their creative offerings, creating more opportunities and broader access to the arts. We invite you to share your experiences and suggestions in this short survey. While the focus is on visual arts, we invite you to share experiences with other art forms as well.
