Northern Rockies Accessibility and Inclusion Committee |
Expression of Interest
The Northern Rockies Regional Municipality, Fort Nelson Public Library and School District No. 81 are recruiting members with lived and learned accessibility experience to join a new Northern Rockies Accessibility and Inclusion Committee (AIC).
Working together with members from each organization, the Northern Rockies AIC will work to identify, prevent and eliminate barriers within our region in support of the new regulations outlined within the Accessible BC Act, which came effective on September 1, 2022, to make B.C. more inclusive for people with disabilities.
The Northern Rockies AIC is seeking members who identify as having a visible or invisible disability and/or represent organizations that represent people with disabilities and those who represent the diversity of British Columbia, including those who are indigenous.
Committee members will contribute by:
- Participating in group discussions to provide a thorough understanding of accessibility issues within the disability community.
- Conducting consultations with partner organizations to support the development of various accessibility plans.
- Identifying potential barriers and the likelihood of encountering these barriers when accessing support or services.
- Evaluating and uncovering solutions to address accessibility issues.
Applications are now open. Those who wish to apply for a position on the Committee or would like more information, please email accessibility@northernrockies.ca, call 250-774-2541 ext. 2045, or stop by in person at one of the below locations:
