Firewood is becoming both increasingly costly and difficult to obtain on Cortes. Additionally, wood burning is more carbon intensive than burning coal per unit of energy released. For the purposes of both affordability and climate change mitigation island residents may want to transition to clean electricity as the main source of heat in their homes. Residents may be eligible for up $11 000 in federal and provincial rebates for green retrofits, as well as $40 000 in a zero-interest, ten year loans. Please fill out the  following 2 minute survey to help us understand the state of heating on Cortes Island and gauge interest in information and help with applications for rebates.
