RTA Next is the development of a new 20-year regional transportation plan by the Regional Transportation Authority, a state taxing district within Pima County. The draft RTA plan would be funded by a new half-cent sales tax, if the new plan and tax are approved by voters at a future date. The RTA's existing plan and tax, which were approved by county voters in 2006, are in effect through June 2026. On an annual basis, RTA funding represents nearly two-thirds of available regional transportation improvement funding, approximately $110 million.

The RTA Board approved an initial draft regional transportation plan for public review and feedback before the board finalizes the plan for voter consideration. A future election is tentatively planned for November 2025. The purpose of the draft $2.46 billion regional transportation plan is to provide improvements across the region for the benefit of all transportation network users no matter where they live or travel. The $2.46 billion budget is based on pessimistic RTA revenue estimates over a 20-year period.
