Booth Assistants will work with a Booth Leader who is in need of help with their activity booth. Some booths only have one individual running them, making taking breaks extremely difficult during the festival. CoosWA will connect the Booth Assistant with the Booth Leader as far as in advance as possible so that the Booth Assistant will feel comfortable in that role.

Behinds the Scenes Volunteers work with CoosWA and partners before the event to get supplies and materials prepared. As you can imagine, there is a lot of work that needs to get done before the Mayfly Festival can kick off. CoosWA will be hosting prep parties to create materials for the art tent, construct signs, and other important pre-event activities.

Translators will assist the public during activities, either at booths or at the stage. Interested in volunteering more? Booth Security Officers will keep an eye on the booths during the opening ceremony when Booth Leaders are not at their booths. Opening ceremony to go from 11:00 am to approximately 11:20 am.

Floating Volunteers will assist in a variety of logistical tasks during the day of the festival. Floating Volunteers will transport needed supplies, provide assistance to other volunteers during the festival, and relief to individuals running booths if needed. This volunteer role provides stability in the fun, high energy festival environment.

Greeters will welcome participants to the festival! Greeters will be introduced to the layout of the festival before it begins and will help direct attendees to different activities of the festival.

Art Tent Volunteers will spend the duration of their shift with the participants of the festival who visit the art tent! Be prepared to get crafty and potentially messy, as this will be a fun and colorful, hands-on experience for both attendees and volunteers.

Green Team Volunteers will help manage waste from the festival by making sure the appropriate materials are being recycled, put in the garbage, or composted. Green Team Volunteers will also check on the water station and make sure everything is orderly.

Mayfly and Salmon Mascots will wear the beloved costumes and direct the attention of the participants to the stage for activities during the festival. Be prepared to use your big, outside voice and also a megaphone :)

Photographer/Videographers will capture the excitement and energy of the Mayfly Festival. Even if you do not choose this volunteer role, you may send Mayfly related photos to kklietz@cooswatershed.org.

For example, skills that would be helpful include sewing machine operation, using wood shop tools, using electric saws that can cut Mayfly wing shapes, Cricut operation, art/design skills, exc. Your unique skills and experiences are greatly appreciated!
