For 150 years, the Chicago region (Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake (IL), McHenry, and Will Counties) has served as North America’s rail hub due to its central location in the North American railroad network and the large number of freight, passenger, and commuter trains that pass through the region every day. The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) has launched the Chicago Rail Futures Study II to 1) analyze the relationship between freight and passenger rail and the regional economy and 2) understand the benefits and impacts of rail to local communities.
As part of this study, CDOT wants to better understand how companies use and plan to use the freight resources in the region. Results from this survey will inform the findings and recommendations of this study. Please note that all answers will be visible only to the study team and any analysis or sharing of survey responses will be anonymized and aggregated to a level that will ensure that participants cannot be linked to their responses.
By filling out the below survey, you will be automatically added to the distribution list for the survey results. The study team will also be conducting a workshop to gather additional information and will be presenting further analyzed results of the survey. Please indicate below if you would like to be added to the invitation list for the workshop. The study team may follow up with survey respondents for further discussion or participation in focus groups.
Please note that the following survey contains multiple sections, some of which ask for additional information on your company's shipping and receiving habits. The full survey is expected to take about 20 minutes to complete.
