Please read prior to applying to be a GEM Mentor

Dear GEM Mentor Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in the 2024-2025 GEM Mentorship Program. Please review the following information before starting your application.

The program runs from September 2024 to May 2025 and involves the mentorship of an adolescent girl living in the GTA or Hamilton. This year, we are adopting a new matching process that will consider multiple criteria such as shared interests, experiences, personality traits, and career interests. In effort to optimize the new matching process, we are requesting that all returning mentors also complete the application process.

IMPORTANT DETAILS:
1. This application is for individuals applying to be a GEM Mentor for the 2024-25 cohort, starting in September 2024.

2. ALL mentor candidates are required to submit a Vulnerable Sector Check from their local police unit (according to place of residence - City of Toronto, Hamilton, Halton Region Peel Region, York Region, Durham Region) prior to the end of June 2024. This document can be dated no earlier than 2022. Please see instructions below for how to obtain this check if you do not already have one.

PLEASE NOTE: Obtaining a Vulnerable Sector Check can take up to 8 weeks after the document is submitted. You will not be matched if you do not submit this check.

3. Applying and interviewing does not guarantee placement in the upcoming cohort. Girls E-Mentorship has a comprehensive matching and screening process. Although you may be accepted into the program, you are not guaranteed to be matched with a Mentee. Mentor and Mentee matching is based on current cohort capacity and Mentee criteria (e.g. career aspirations, needs, hobbies, interests and residential location).

4. Mentor applications are reviewed monthly. Successful candidates will receive an email outlining next steps in the screening process, including a video interview.

5. The waiver at the end of this application is mandatory. Your application is incomplete without a signed waiver.

3. Successful Applicants Notified: July 2024
