There is no permitting pathway in Vermont for residents to compost the solids from their compost toilets and reuse beneficially on their land. The current legal management pathways are landfilling, wastewater treatment plants, or shallow burial permits requiring a site that meets the specifications for a septic leach field with no prior composting required or encouraged.
