Relationship Between Identity and Awareness: Correlational Study
The Purpose of Research
Determining if identity is correlated to awareness. If significant results are found, future studies may be conducted to uncover whether a causal link exists between identity and awareness.
Research Question
What is the relationship between identity and awareness?
Research Methods
Correlational Study - a quantitative research method to address the research problem and to investigate the relationship between the self-reported strength of one’s identity and awareness.
Desired number of participants: 300 English speaking adults, 20 years old or older.
Participation consists of:
• Reviewing and Signing the Informed Consent
• Accomplishing demographics questionnaire – < 1 minute (no time limit)
• Accomplishing AIQ-IV (Aspects of Identity Questionnaire) – 5 minutes (no time limit)
• Accomplishing The Inventory of Spiritual/Secular Wakefulness (WAKE) – 5 minutes (no time limit)
* Total estimated time of participation: approximately 11 minutes
Benefit
The result of this study will have implications for current and future research into the nature of identity as well as identity’s relationship with self-transcendence and transformation.
The study will contribute to offering a tangible, quantifiable connection between concept of identity and wakefulness. The outcome is to be contributory not only to the academic community but also to practical applications such as therapy and education.
