Purpose of the Youth Advisory Group
Young people in the Upper Hunter have expressed a desire to be heard on issues important to them such as liveability, the environment, education, and employment. Currently, there is a gap in the membership of the UHMD with no active members under 30 years of age. The Youth Advisory Group will fill this gap, bringing in fresh ideas and perspectives to inform the Dialogue's work.
The exact role of the Group will be directed by the group members, however potential responsibilities include:
- Informing the strategic direction of the UHMD by identifying issues and concerns relevant to youth in the community
- Working collaboratively to address key issues and support ongoing projects
- Offer innovative ideas and solutions to address key issues identified by the Group
- Facilitate dialogue between young people and key stakeholders in the mining sector
