Mission Revision 2012 |
University of Alaska Fairbanks Mission Revision Survey
1 / 10 |
UAF asks for your input on possible revisions to our mission as part of a periodic cycle of reflection about the institution's purpose. This short question survey is intended to gather broad constituent feedback on possible mission revisions. Please share this survey and encourage other constituents to complete it.
Motivation for considering a change to the mission is, in part, that UAF's current mission is focused on what it is rather than what it does and why. In addition, the mission should reflect the following identified core themes:
Educate: Undergraduate and Graduate Students
Research:Create and Disseminate New Knowledge, Insight, Technology, Artistic and Scholarly Works
Prepare: Alaska’s Career, Technical, and Professional Workforce
Connect: Alaska Native, Rural, and Urban Communities through Contemporary and Traditional Knowledge
Engage: Alaskans via Lifelong Learning, Outreach, and Community and Economic Development
Your input will help identify the broadly supported elements important to include in a revised mission statement. The current mission statement is given below:
Current UAF Mission Statement
The University of Alaska Fairbanks, the nation's northernmost Land, Sea and Space Grant university and international research center, advances and disseminates knowledge through teaching, research and public service with an emphasis on Alaska, the circumpolar North and their diverse peoples. UAF--America's arctic university--promotes academic excellence, student success and lifelong learning.
