Tehama County SGMA | Domestic Well Owner Survey
|
Requesting information from well owners in Tehama County
The Tehama County Flood Control and Water Conservation District (GSA) is responsible for managing the groundwater where we live in Tehama County. There are two main management criteria that are important for you to understand about our efforts to make our groundwater sustainable:
Groundwater Measurable Objectives
• This is the target groundwater level that the GSA will commit to achieve and maintain by 2042.
• Groundwater levels will fluctuate but still trend toward this target.
Groundwater Minimum Thresholds
• This is the lowest groundwater level allowable, offering flexibility during droughts.
• If the minimum threshold at a specific well near you is lower than your domestic well depth, you may be vulnerable to your well going dry before 2042.
Although fewer wells will go dry as a result of local sustainability efforts under SGMA, domestic well owners should be aware of how SGMA impacts their water supply and plan ahead to prepare for action. As part of our outreach efforts to identify domestic wells in Tehama County, we request that you complete this quick survey to help us gather additional information about the location, depth, and primary use of your domestic well.
