C-GEO Teacher Consultant Incentive Grant Application
C-GEO Teacher Consultants are eligible to apply for grants to improve the quality of geographic education for their students. Individual grants will not exceed $1000; groups of TCs may apply for group project grants of up to $2,000.
These grants are intended to help TCs implement geography education in their classrooms by supporting the purchase of instructional resources such as classroom atlases, videos, software, paperback books and special supplies needed to complete a project. Grants may be used for fees, guest speakers, and matching grants if there is a clear geographic connection. Grant monies cannot be used to finance workshop/conference fees, meals and lodging, transportation expenses, or major equipment.
Application deadlines are May 1st, September 1st and February 1st. Applications will be reviewed by the C-GEO Steering Committee, and award decisions will be communicated to applicants by June 15th, October 15th or March 15th. Recipients have six months to use a grant, once it is awarded. Those who have not received a previous grant will be given priority. However, there is no restriction on the number of times an individual may apply.
Some additional information to keep in mind: Grants are awarded on a reimbursement basis. C-GEO cannot reimburse for expenses that are paid by anyone other than the grant recipient. Materials purchased with grant funds will be the property of the TC grant recipient, and not the property of his or her school. However, projects that benefit the greater school community will receive stronger consideration.
GRANT REPORT Grant recipients must submit a final report to C-GEO about use of the incentive grant funds within 90 days of the date of the grant award letter. C-GEO will provide a URL for submitting the report. You will asked to include one or two photos (including photos gives us permission to use them for C-GEO’s promotion and related purposes).
