Introduction
The Tagaloa scholarships are awarded to Pacific people doing a Masters or Doctorate research that contributes to understanding of Pacific People’s experiences and world views in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Preference will be given to applicants who are able to demonstrate that their studies aim to improve the social, economic, and wellbeing of Pacific through a Pacific-holistic worldview. 

Application Process

Note: The following documents must be photocopied, certified and uploaded

Masters
  • Confirmation of enrolment into a Masters programme
Doctorate
  • Confirmation that you have completed your provisional year in a PhD programme
  • Confirmation that your tertiary institution's Doctoral Committee has approved your full enrolment status in the PhD programme
  • A written reference from your supervisor
You can ask any one of the following people to certify your documents:
  • School principal.
  • Registrar of a tertiary provider.
  • District Court Registrar or Deputy Registrar.
  • Barrister or Solicitor.
  • Justice of the Peace.

The Ministry of Education collects your personal information for the purposes of assessing your application for the Tagaloa Scholarship.

Besides our staff, we share this information with two external Tagaloa Scholarship panel members who help assess applications.

You have the right to ask for a copy of any personal information we hold about you, and to ask for it to be corrected if you think it is wrong.
