MNSTAC Committee Sign Up

Please consider taking a moment to sign up to participate in one of MNSTAC's working committees for 2020. These committees will report to the full board at each meeting and will develop a workplan associated with the goals stated within each description. We appreciate your time and willingness to help us improve our organization and its delivery of important information. Thank you!

Question Title

* 1. In which committee would you like to participate?

Education/Forums: This committee will work with the DNR, U of MN staff and MnSTAC members to provide topic information for monthly forums as well as provide content to the MNSTAC website in order to provide pertinent and timely updates on urban and community forestry-related topics.

Goals: Provide timely and pertinent information to our members. Examples could be: Survey and engage members on topics, explore opportunities to expand speaker list. Provide content for MNSTAC website on relevant educational opportunities to Outreach/Networking committee.

Outreach/Networking: This committee will work to fill vacancies on the MNSTAC board as well as assist with campaigns (ie: Tree City USA, Arbor Day, etc). Member services, website and social media content, communications and networking is included in this committee.

Goals: Expand membership; expand awareness of MNSTAC’s role and vision.

Legislative/Advocacy: Inform decisionmakers about the importance of urban and community forestry; advocate for relevant legislation, create partnerships with various stakeholders.

Goal: Sustained funding for urban and community forestry program related issues, threats and opportunities.

Finance: This committee will explore non-profit status, member fees, and financial holdings.

Goal: Annual working budget in order to expand and enhance existing efforts. Support other committee initiatives.

Exec. Committee: This committee works to maintain the activities of MNSTAC including preparing for board and membership meetings, communicating to board and members, serving as a liaison between the board, DNR and USFS.

Goal: Maintain MNSTAC’s mission and vision, general urban forest council administration. (Note: This committee meets monthly, the first Wednesday of the month from 8:00 am until 9:30 am).
