The Hillside Neighborhood Association (HNA) Board and Security Committee have been contacted by many residents with meaningful concerns about safety. In response, our volunteers have identified a private security option for interested households.

Any HNA household can register and pay $50 per month, which will:
   - Fund hours of Patrol Services.
   - Make the household eligible for On-Call Security Services ($75/hr).

Services will initiate on July 1, 2023. Patrol Services will start at 3 hours per week and grow as more households register. 100 registered households would support 16 hours per week. If more than 200 households register, the cost per household will likely decrease.

We discuss why we believe this is option is necessary, our concerns in taking this step, and how we plan to address them. We also provide information about the private security option and the provider, Corporate Crime Control (CCC). Among other things, we felt it important that:
  • CCC has offered services in Portland for over 30 years.
  • CCC has never received a complaint from the community or clients.
  • CCC's officers are trained in de-escalation and implicit bias.
  • CCC's officers have never fired a weapon while on duty, though trained to do so.
