Motueka Catchment Collective fully funded native trees from Trees that Count 2024. |
Applications must be in by 15 April
Motueka Catchment Collective has received funding for 5000 native trees for planting from May 2024 onwards. These are all trees that will grow greater than 5 m. They are all trees that can be grown out in the open ie first colonisers. There are no flaxes or carexs or shrubs in the mix. The plants will come from Westbank natives. We will provide a mix suitable for your planting site. You will not be able to pick the tree species yourself.
You are invited to put an application in for these trees. Should there be an over subscription, priority will be given to projects involving a community planting event, community based projects or riparian/wetland plantings.
Your application must be for a minimum of 200 plants (a TTC requirement).
We encourage you to also purchase plant covers for your plants and we will provide a $0.50 incentive to offset the cost of the plant cover.
You are invited to get your application in by 15 April 2024.
We will let people know by 30 April 2024 if they have been successful.
A condition of this funding is that the trees must be planted within the boundaries of the Motueka catchment and over winter 2024. You will also be required to provide a map of the planting site(s) a photo, and survival information at 1 year after planting.
If you have had plants from MCC before and haven't provided the requested information you will be ineligible for this application. It is not too late to get this past information in. You will find emails with how this is to be done.
