Thank you for participating in this survey, which aims to gather insights on current recreational uses and future uses in and along the Lower Snake River. In the 2024 legislative session, the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO) was directed to create a blueprint for investments in recreation along the Lower Snake River. This blueprint would help offset the potential loss of recreation opportunities if Congress were to authorize the drawdown of reservoirs in connection with dam breaching. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) partnered with RCO on this effort through its Planning Assistance to States program.

A ‘free–flowing river’ refers to a natural river without dams or artificial barriers. This change could transform the river corridor and create different types of spaces for public recreation.

The survey will ask about your current recreational experiences along the Lower Snake River, your preferences for future activities and facilities, and how important various recreational options are to you. We anticipate the survey will take about 10 to 15 minutes to complete. Your feedback is vital in helping us understand how to support recreation experiences in this area, particularly under a possible free-flowing river scenario.

We appreciate your time and valuable input.
