2021 Award of Valor & Community Service Award Firehouse has opened the nominations for the Valor and Community Service Awards, the largest awards program of its kind in the fire service.The Michael O. McNamee Award of Valor recognizes acts of courage and bravery, including both physical acts to rescue a victim in hazardous conditions as well as critical decisions or preventative actions that ensured civilian or firefighter safety.Unit Citation awards—a component of the Valor Awards—are for efforts made by three or more individuals, or one or more fire company.Additionally, the Thomas Carr Community Service Awards highlight the actions of fire service personnel who have gone above and beyond in service to their community. These nominations are for actions that took place in 2021. The winners will appear in the September 2022 issue of Firehouse Magazine.The deadline for completed applications HAS BEEN EXTENDED to MAY 31, 2022. No nominations will be accepted after this date. Please submit one nomination for the group, listing the individuals or companies involved in the incident. Thomas Carr Community Service Award Nomination Note: Nominations must be made by department personnel, not friends or family. Individuals cannot nominate themselves.
