THAW’s MI Water Program provides minor plumbing repairs, in-home water energy efficiency/conservation assessments, education, and water conservation supplies to eligible households within Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties with priority given to the poorest communities that were the hardest hit by Covid-19 including Detroit, Highland Park, Hamtramck, Ecorse, River Rouge, and Pontiac.*
*A limited amount of grant money will be available and is distributed to eligible households based on the following guidelines:
The home must be:
1. Single-family owner-occupied with an income qualified household
2. Single-family non-owner-occupied with an income qualified household
3. Multi-family (attached or detached - up to 3 units) with an income qualified household.
Homeowners must provide proof of current homeowner’s insurance, mortgage statement, or property tax statement that is not delinquent. Renters must provide proof of current lease agreement and completed landlord approval form.
4. The household must meet income qualifications and not exceed 300% FPL (see chart above).
5. The repair is estimated to cost less than $2500.
6. No household may receive more than $5000 in a lifetime.
7. Minor Plumbing Repairs or replacement include, but are not limited to:

Slow or clogged drains
Shower heads and faucets
Low water pressure
Water and waste lines
Water heater issues
Toilets
