Flooding Assistance for the Greater Miami Area
Dear Neighbor,
This is a community survey put together by a group of volunteers in the greater Miami area hosted by the local non-profit LEAD Agency. Today, Miami and surrounding communities face the threats of flooding and toxics exposure which make local housing unsafe. We must prepare for more harmful flooding in the future.
This survey is an important first step in RAISING AWARENESS of the danger residents face, and GATHERING INFORMATION on who wants help with their home’s flooding issues. We are asking about your household’s exposure to flooding and toxic contaminants, your health, your current housing situation, and whether your household would like assistance moving to safer housing.
What is the point of this survey?
This survey is intended to:
Warn residents of the Miami area about the risks that they face in their homes. Flooding and toxics exposure could pose a threat to you and your household.
Assess interest in a home buyout program and other flood prevention projects. To get funding from the government to help people relocate to reduce their flood risk, we need to ask for it. A household survey is required for the city or county to apply for state or federal funding.
Collect public opinion about lake management decisions. We want to know how you feel about the lake level being raised.
Thank you for joining with your neighbors working tirelessly on the behalf of those in need. If you have any questions about this project, please email survey@buy-in.org.
