Treating Addiction in Rural Areas (TARA) ECHO-Organizational Outcome Assessment-Year 2 |
Introduction
The TARA ECHO goal is to strengthen the rural behavioral health care workforce and increase participant understanding and utilization of The American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Criteria. Based on this goal the anticipated outcomes of this ECHO program include the following:
- Improved collaboration for practice teams participating in the ECHO program;
- Improved knowledge and confidence related to appropriate application of The ASAM Criteria;
- Measured change in SUD practice at the organization level as measured by three ASAM Process/Contextual/Outcome measures; and
- Improved client SUD outcomes.
An important step in the ECHO implementation is to better understand the current practices and policies for the participating organizations and their staff as well as barriers to fully adopting and implementing The ASAM Criteria. John Snow Inc (JSI) is currently evaluating the effectiveness of its training and outreach efforts. The goal of the assessment is to determine how information and skill development from the ECHO sessions are put into practice, and to help us understand the organizational impact of the ECHO participation.
