Community Feedback for Greensboro Chief of Police Selection Process

INTRODUCTION - On April 18, Greensboro Police Chief Brian James announced his retirement from the department, effective May 31. James joined the GPD in 1996 and served as the police chief since January 2020. Greensboro Assistant City Manager for Public Safety Trey Davis stated “We want to give our residents the opportunity to engage and offer input on what is most important to them in our search for a new police chief, Because everyone has a busy schedule, we are offering an online survey in addition to virtual community meetings. We’ll use the data we collect to help shape our search.”
The information requested in this survey will be used to identify competencies needed in the next Chief as well as critical issues facing the City and the Police Department. All responses are anonymous. Results will be summarized by the consulting group Developmental Associates which will be managing the search and assessment process for the City.
