Introduction
Now is an important time for people with disabilities and their families in Wisconsin. Recent changes to our long-term care programs like Family Care and IRIS mean more people are now waiting for basic supports. People who need help getting out of bed, eating their meals, getting to work or simply getting out of their house to see friends and neighbors may have no help at all.
There are two important bills that will affect people with disabilities. One new bill, the People First Law(AB- 471), would remove the words "mental retardation" from state law, the other would lift the caps on Family care and IRIS. These bills need your support to pass.
Telling your story is one way to help these two bills pass and to help all people with disabilities in Wisconsin.
We will be sharing your information and story with legislators and the media. Anything you share should be something you are willing to see in the newspaper. Please provide all of the following information.
