Speak Up Engage - Sunshine Coast Council's Youth Engagement Program

Speak Up Engage is council's youth engagement and development program. The program is now open to all young people between the ages of 15 and 24 years who live on the Sunshine Coast. Please complete this application form to register your interest in the program. Registrations close 1 March 2019 (5pm). If you are under 18 you will need to ask your parent, guardian or carer for permission to apply.

Speak Up Engage Selection Criteria

Please review the program member responsibilities and answer each selection criteria question in no more than 250 words for each question.

Program member responsibilities:

As a member of the Speak Up Engage program you will be required to work with other young people in a team environment to:
  • Act as an Advisor to Council specific to young people's needs, issues and experiences
  • Assist Council to better inform and engage with other young people on the Sunshine Coast
  • Assist Council to promote positive images of young people and increase recognition of the contribution young people make to community
  • Encourage, support and increase the ability of young people to engage in Local Government community planning and decision making processes
  • Provide advice and assist Council to develop partnerships and build connections with its youth population.
  • Assist in the delivery of action items in line with the Youth Action Plan

18.Commitment
To participate in this program requires you to attend regular meetings, small group planning sessions and training workshops. Explain how you would balance your present and future school, work, sporting and social commitments with the Speak Up Engage responsibilities. Also, explain how you will solve any transport issues that could impact your participation.(Required.)

By confirming your interest in the Speak Up Engage program you are agreeing to Sunshine Coast Council contacting you to participate in the program. Successful applicants will be notified by 8 March 2019.
