Introduction

Thank you for participating in this survey.

The aim of this survey is to understand attitudes towards mandatory continuing professional development (CPD) requirements for solicitors.

In 2021, the NSW Productivity Commission's White Paper (https://www.productivity.nsw.gov.au/sites/default/files/2022-04/Productivity-Commission-White-Paper-2021.pdf) recommended that mandatory CPD requirements should be reviewed (Recommendation 4.6).

As a step towards delivering this recommendation, the Productivity Commission released a Discussion Paper, New thinking on continuing professional development (https://www.productivity.nsw.gov.au/sites/default/files/2022-12/20221215-new-thinking-on-continuing-professional-development.pdf) in December 2022.

The Productivity Commission has also engaged the Centre for International Economics (CIE) to prepare a series of 'deep dives' reviewing the mandatory CPD requirements that apply to a number of professions in NSW, including solicitors. Survey responses will be used to inform the review.

The survey is anonymous and responses will be aggregated and not reported separately.

The survey is estimated to take around 5-10 minutes to complete.
