Sleep disorders patients present themselves to respiratory therapists across our entire scope of practice. Cross-over of changing technology and treatment and management of this population now occurs frequently whether a therapist works in the NICU, ICU, ER, OR, LTACC, Rehab, DME, PFT, or perioperative settings or as a department director.
These and other concerns such as infection control, skin breakdown, readmissions and elevated admissions are all areas where, everyday, respiratory therapists use technology and techniques developed in the sleep sector to effect positive outcomes.
In this survey the AARC Sleep Section is looking for that common ground of experiences that can help us all support the cross-over patient, reduce liability and increase revenues.
