Shropshire Council Budget Consultation 25/26 1. IntroductionLike councils all over the country, Shropshire Council’s day-to-day budget is under pressure, especially as a growing number of people need essential services, like social care (for adults and children), which accounts for almost 80% of its budget. To save money, the council has had to make some tough choices. Some of the changes Shropshire Council has already made this year include changes to garden waste collection and charging, using fewer buildings, reducing staff size, changes to CCTV monitoring and homeless accommodations. The exact figure for next year’s budget isn’t clear yet, but the council expects more savings will be needed. The council is asking you for your opinions on more changes to help further reduce day-to-day spending in 2025/26.This survey includes proposals that have been discussed by all party group leaders on Shropshire Council, as ideas they would like the public to have their say on.The outcome of the survey will help make decisions in setting the budget, which will be voted on by the full council in February 2025.Thank you for taking the time to give us your valuable feedback.
