Community Responses to COVID-19
The country is preparing itself to withstand the spread of Coronavirus COVID-19.
Providing sustainable support to communities will form a key part of the mobilisation effort, utilizing local knowledge, relationships and trust to help the most vulnerable members of the Sligo community.
We are working together to try and make the best uses of the resources we have at our disposal during this Covid-19 outbreak. We need to gather information from groups operating on the ground to help coordinate work and resources within Sligo, avoid duplication and ensure coverage of support so people know where to turn for help.
We are fully aware that community and voluntary groups in County Sligo provide essential services to vulnerable people within our communities and that many of the people who provide these services are already working at full capacity. We are conducting this survey so that we can see where voluntary support might be needed over the coming months and to identify how we might support groups to change their activity to meet the needs of those most at risk from the virus. Community action will need to balance personal safety, distance and collective activity.
At the end of this process we hope to get an idea of;
1) What community groups and services are continuing to operate, or offering additional services in the county and how people can access them - we will use our networks to promote this information and support you to keep services going
2) What additional supports community groups might need and how we might be in a position to help through the recrutiment of volunteers
If your group is active or plans to provide practical community supports (e.g., food shopping, collecting prescriptions) during the COVID-19 phase then we would appreciate your response to the questions below.
