Training conducted by Spearhead Tactical from Shiprock, NM in partnership with Diné College.

Training Date: Friday, June 30, 2023

Check-in 8:30am to 9:00am

Location: Diné College Shiprock Campus, South Campus, John Pinto Library

Registration is First Come, First Service. Registration will close early if all 50 seats are filled before deadline.

    • Classroom/Lecture:
      • Program Overview & History of School Threats in the US
      • Common Challenges we face on the Navajo Nation
      • Situational Awareness and Prevention
      • Firearm Safety and Laws
    • Hands-On Training
      • Self-Defense Training (basic take downs, team take downs)
      • Stop the Bleed Training/Basic Medical Training for Civilians
      • Response Model: Run, Hide, Fight
    • Scenarios:
      • Group A: Intensity Level: Low
        • Environment will be low stress delivery. In-classroom basic demonstration of Run, Hide and Fight. Training will not involve high stress environment but a delivery of step-by-step process on response to an Active Threat, should one occur. Delivery will be lecture base round table discussion will allow for information sharing on prevention strategies at your home, workplace or schools.
      • Group B: Intensity Level: High
        • Environment will be high stress with sounds of blanks utilized in hallways and classrooms. Student will apply Run, Hide and Fight stages in live scenario with role playing, Security Response, potential victims and medical response, and 5% on take-downs.
        • Counselors will be on-hand to assist those who need services.

  • Who should attend?
    • Diné College Students, Staff, and Faculty, Student Housing/Family Apartment
      • Age restriction: 18 years old on up
    • Diné College Community Partners (IHS, neighboring schools to the College, internal first responders, Sandstone Housing Managers/Security)
Cost:
Event is free but limited to 50 participants.
Meals are on your own.
Certificates will be issued at end of session.

  • What to Prepare for during Training:
    • Wear Active Clothes, long sleeves shirts and sport pants (to prevent mat burns)
    • Tennis shoes, running shoes
    • Water
    • No heels, no short cuts, no sandals
  • Do I have to be physically fit to participate?
    • No, we do not expect you to be in the best of shape. We welcome everyone and will work with you based on your capabilities.
    • Any disabilities, mobility or health issues (injuries, etc.), all participates will be required to submit a medical wavier and we will work with you at your ability level.
    • Participants may opt out of taking part in physical activities and observe.
