You are invited to participate in a study researching the impact of military culture on veteran transitions. The objective of this research is to determine the difficulty of transition based on factors such as length of time in service, deployments, loss of individuality, and trauma. The results of this research will be used to advocate for improved transition programs and community resources for veterans.
This study is being conducted by Marissa Snowden, an undergraduate student at Fayetteville State University under the supervision of Dr. Pius Nyutu, a professor in the Department of Psychology. You will be one of 385 participants chosen to participate in this study.
If you decide to participate, you may be asked to participate in a one-time online data collection if you are 18 years of age or older. You may decide not to participate or answer any questions on the questionnaire that make you feel uncomfortable; you may also stop your participation at any time during the study. There is no monetary compensation for participation in this study, however, the results of this study will help advocate for support services for transitioning active-duty service members and veterans.
Since this is a confidential online survey, we will be using encryption and will not be collecting names or IP addresses. Your confidentiality will be maintained to the degree permitted by the technology used. Specifically, no guarantee can be made regarding the interception of data sent via the internet by any third parties. At no time will your name be identified in reports, papers, or publications.
Your decision whether or not to participate will not affect your future relations with Fayetteville State University. If you decide to participate, you are free to discontinue participation at any time.
You are making a decision whether or not to participate. If you agree to participate, please click the “I agree” button at the top of this page. You may withdraw at any time after starting the survey should you choose to discontinue your participation in this study.
