SURVEY FOR EMPLOYERS

Have your say about how housing issues are impacting upon your workforce in Dumfries & Galloway / Scottish Borders.

[if you are an employee or sole trader without staff, please complete our separate workers' survey]

A lack of the right housing in the right place is thought to be presenting challenges for the recruitment and retention of workers in the South of Scotland. This includes workers who provide essential public services, maintain the region’s critical infrastructure and are crucial to sustaining and growing the local economy – all of whom might be thought of as ‘key workers’.

To understand more precisely the need and demand for key worker housing, Scottish Borders Council, Dumfries & Galloway Council, South of Scotland Enterprise, Scottish Futures Trust and South of Scotland Community Housing are conducting research into the circumstances prevailing in a sample of sectors.

We wish to hear directly from employers with staff in the region - from sole traders with one or two employees to large public, private and third sector organisations - particularly in these sectors:
  • Health and social care
  • Education
  • Public administration
  • Fire, ambulance, police and prison services
  • Electricity or mains gas infrastructure
  • Water supply/sewerage
  • Waste collection, treatment and disposal
  • Telecommunications infrastructure
  • Transport
  • Farming
  • Forestry
  • Tourism and hospitality
  • Housing with associated care and support services
There are up to 15 questions and it should take less than 10 minutes to complete the survey.

We will not ask for your name or contact details, but please note that we will ask you where your organisation is based and which sector you work in and – especially for smaller organisations – this may mean that you are identifiable from the information you provide.

We will store your responses securely and publish the research results anonymously so that individuals cannot be identified.

Any enquiries should be directed to Chris Dalglish (chris.dalglish@sosch.org), Partnership & Learning Manager, South of Scotland Community Housing.
