The Saskatchewan Elective Support Program, offered by Saskatchewan Health Authority in partnership with the Saskatchewan Medical Association (SMA), is available to offset travel and accommodation expenses for residents pursuing electives in eligible communities throughout Saskatchewan.

Pursuing electives in new communities not only aids in gaining new skills; it also provides exposure to the benefits of establishing practice in different communities throughout the province.

I understand that this program supports electives, not clinical rotations, in Saskatchewan communities.

I understand that I will be required to complete a five to ten minute evaluation prior to reimbursement. This will be used for program improvements and to assess the impact of the elective(s).

I understand and agree to provide confirmation of electives (e.g. preceptor confirmation) prior to reimbursement as stipulated in the program parameters.

I understand and agree to provide accommodation and travel receipts prior to reimbursement as stipulated in the program parameters.

I understand and consent that my name, email, program and elective may be shared with SMA, other Provincial health care organizations, and community representatives to administer this program, offer community exposure and discuss potential career options.

I agree that SHA/SMA reserve the right to change, amend, modify, suspend or terminate all or any part of this program, without notice. In the event of any adjustment to this program, all approved applications prior to the change(s) will be honored.

Application approval may be subject to budgetary limitations. In that event, applications will be prioritized as follows:
* Resident physicians that hold a return of service agreement with the province of Saskatchewan;
* Royal College specialists and sub-specialists that are identified as a provincial priority based on the conditions at the time of application;
* Rural and regional electives for specialties with service delivery outside of Saskatoon, Regina and Prince Albert.
