This assessment was designed to serve as a catalyst every year for GYA Members to set aside intentional time to assess where the organization stands in regards to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access (DEIA) and to identify areas where the organization can make strategic improvements. It will take your team some time to complete this assessment, but the results will help both your organization and the GYA inform ongoing work. This is the second version of the GYA DEIA Survey, with eight (8) categories and one page at the end for your team to determine overall priorities and challenges.
Survey design and the scoring system: Each page of this survey contains one category broken into multiple topics/questions related to the category.
Each question on each page prompts you to evaluate your organization’s success or challenge with a given topic. After each question you will be asked to score your organization on a scale from 0 – 4. A score of 4 means your organization “meets the ideal criteria,” where IDEAL is defined below each topic/question
Each page also includes room for your team to record success stories, challenges, and Action Plans for improvement.
There's a progress bar at the bottom of each page to indicate how far along your team is within the survey. You can access the link multiple times until you have finished all the pages. Please don't forget to click DONE at the very end when you have recorded all your answers.
Note: Some smaller organizations may find certain questions inapplicable to their work, or challenging to answer. For example, an organization with one marketing person might not report that they "meet ideal criteria" on staff demographics matching promotional ideas. In this case, feel free to skip individual questions, but please indicate in the comments at the end of the page for a question you skipped as to why the question does not apply to your organization, or why it presents a particular challenge for your organization. Even if your organization reports a score of 4 on every category, please fill out the action plan/comments section. This will help your organization determine your progress year-to-year, and it will help GYA understand the state of DEIA in our field.
