Participant Information

This training addresses the basics of being a victim advocate — answering the crisis line, providing individual and systems advocacy and providing outreach in your community. Participants will have opportunities to practice skills necessary to provide comprehensive advocacy for victims. New sexual assault victim advocates, domestic violence victim advocates, and other professionals who want to learn more about sexual violence are encouraged to attend.

SAVAS consists of a classroom component, in addition to a series of sessions via webinar prior to and after the training. Participants will be expected to have completed each session.

***Important note about February 2020 SAVAS: To accommodate new hires as a result of VOCA awards, WCASA is prepared to provide our Sexual Assault Victim Advocacy School (SAVAS) twice in the month of February. The first set of dates, February 4-7, is full and registration is closed. We have opened an overflow class, to be held February 18-21. Because we won't be sure of the demand until registrations come in, we will confirm the class and your registration by Tuesday, February 4th. If you have any questions in the meanwhile, don't hesitate to ask Peter Fiala, Events & Technology Coordinator at peterf@wcasa.org.
