HR80 Reunion: Conversations

Topics Survey

Late on Saturday morning at the reunion, we will be breaking into groups of 10-15 people to have "Conversations:" intimate discussions with classmates on topics of common interest, similar to the Life Dialogues in prior reunions. Our hope is that the conversations will be fun and interesting, but more importantly will start new and restart old connections among us.

Topics will be assigned to different rooms and you will get to pick which room to go to. The Reunion Committee wants to select topics that classmates will enjoy so we would like your input on what topics would be appealing to you. THANK YOU for taking a couple minutes to read through these descriptions and select a few that you find appealing.

GETTING THE MOST OUT OF OUR MINDS AND BODIES AS WE AGE: How are we coping with and compensating for new limitations as our brains and bodies wear and tear? How do we thrive physically and mentally as we grow older?

CREATIVE REINVENTION IN YOUR 60s: Sharing ideas and success stories, let's explore how we can shift perspectives, explore new interests and avenues, and redefine personal goals to gain personal fulfillment and joy.

CULTIVATING LIFELONG CURIOSITY AND LEARNING : Many of us love to learn. How are we doing this in our 60s? What resources are we using?

FIRE IN THE BEDROOM: Let’s talk intimacy, passion & keeping the spark alive! Join a candid, peer-led discussion on love & sex in our 60s and beyond. Real talk, real connections!

LOSS: With age and experience comes loss. Join a conversation about how we have prepared for, managed, and found meaning after loss

CARETAKING OF PEERS AND PARENTS: Share insights on managing stress, balancing self and caregiving, and tapping into resources. Connect with peers who understand, and discover new strategies for resiliency.

FINDING LOVE LATE/AGAIN: Come share your sucesses and frustations with techniques and strategies for finding love as "mature" adults.

TELLING OUR STORIES: We each have stories, but how - and to whom - do they get told? Join us to explore the power of stories & platforms for telling our stories, to family, to friends, or beyond.

FRIENDSHIPS: Explore making new and maintaining old friendships as we get older. Share experiences and strategies to bolster social confidence and build meaningful relationships.

RELATIONSHIPS WITH ADULT CHILDREN: Are you satisfied with your relationships with your kids? How have your relationships changed as your children age? How can we make them better?

LIVING ALONE: Are you living alone? How are you and your peers managing the challenges, reaping the benefits, and finding other social supports?

SEIZING TRANSITIONS TO PROPEL TRANSFORMATION: We all go through transitions, some chosen others, not. How can we use them to propel ourselves into a fulfilling new beginning?

NAVIGATING POST-MENOPAUSAL LIFE: Menopause (ours or others) has changed our lives. How has it impacted us and how are we living with that transformation?

GRANDPARENTING: Do you have grandchildren and want to be closer to them? What challenges have we faced? What has worked and what hasn't?

CHANGING APPETITES FOR RISK: More money but less time. Less money and more time. What risks can we or should we take in these years? What's our safety net? Do we need one?
