Kevin Langkiet PhD, MSN, RN has over 40 years of acute care nursing experience that also contains more than 30 years in hospital nursing leadership. Areas of expertise include Critical Care (all modalities), Emergency Nursing, Trauma Nursing, Cardiac Cath Lab, and Progressive Care Nursing. Based on the Professional Practice Model and a Shared Leadership foundation, Kevin has led multiple complex projects that use evidence-based innovations in nursing and developing new nursing interventions for care of the critical care patient. Some major accomplishments include the development and successful implementation at several facilities the nursing care model of the “hybrid” ICU where both ICU and Progressive Care patients are placed on the same unit, but with similar body systems (cardiac as an example). This has led to units becoming an employer destination of choice for many nurses, significant decrease in employee turnover, increases employee engagement, and major increases in customer satisfaction.

During his nursing career, Kevin is a strong advocate of the professional nurse through mentoring and developing up and coming nursing leaders. This best noted in his mentoring and guiding numerous PhD and DNP nursing students to become innovative leaders in healthcare. Kevin is currently the Director for Cardiovascular and Critical Care at the Mercy Health Anderson Hospital where he leads a team of advance nursing practice leaders in both day-to-day patient care as well as multiple research projects, new innovations in nursing care, and establishing critical care standards for their complex patients.
