About the community grants program
Southern Cross Gold’s community grants program (the Program) aims to support community initiatives that enhance the quality of life, heritage, recreation, environment and cultural opportunities for its local communities of Clonbinane, Kilmore, Broadford, Wandong and Wallan.
It invites applications from community groups and organisations twice per year via an application process. Five $500 grants will be awarded to the groups that demonstrate a direct positive outcome for the local community or add to a project in a positive and sustainable manner.

Once closed the applications will be assessed via a committee and contact will be made with successful and unsuccessful applicants.
How to apply
The Program invites applications for financial support from community groups or organisations twice per year. Applicants / organisations should:
- Be based in our local communities of Clonbinane, Kilmore, Broadford, Wallan or Wandong.
- Clearly outline the project’s aims and objectives
- Show direct benefits to the community.
- Demonstrate forward planning, be well organised, and include ongoing support from the group.
- Be able to demonstrate their own contribution in the form of funds, services or in-kind support.
- Outline the project’s budget and timeline. The project should be completed in six months. Extensions may be granted in consultation with the administrators/company.
- Outline how SXG will be acknowledged.
Conditions of application
- Any unspent grants must be returned to the Program at the end of the grant period unless prior approval has been sought.
- Offer of a grant by the Program in no way implies any ongoing funding commitment or obligation.
- No information will be divulged regarding progress of applications prior to grant announcements.
- The application must be signed by an officer bearer of the club or organisation
- The administrators and/or company personnel will be entitled to view a grant project at any time.
- All planning, building permits and any other authorizations including public liability insurance must be obtained.
- Agree to expend grant monies only in accordance with the successful

On completion of the project
A short report identifying how grant funds have been expended is due no later than 60 days after the completion of the project (photos could make up part of this report) including financial records detailing project expenditure
Supply copies of any publicity materials or media coverage. Assistance with acknowledgement of funding will be given (e.g. help with press releases and company logo etc.)

What type of projects will be funded?
Applications should fall into one of the six categories below. Examples organisations or groups have been included.
Education
- Local school, kindergarten or TAFE projects
Health
- Mental health
- Aged care
Environmental
- Nature groups
Recreation
- Sporting groups
- Leisure groups
Social
- Arts, music, theatre and crafts groups
Community services
- Emergency services
- Outreach programs
What projects will not be funded?
The Program will not consider funding applications from:
- Individuals.
- Political organisations or campaigns.
- Applications submitted after the closing date.
- Projects that are for commercial benefit.
- Organisations who have previously received grant funding but have not properly acquitted the previous funding agreement.
- Retrospective activities or events (activities or events that have already occurred).
