Introduction To The Survey

In February 2024, S3 Solutions was appointed by the Department of Rural and Community Development (DRCD) to conduct a targeted study on barriers to involvement in Public Participation Networks (PPNs).

The first phase of our research focused on identifying gaps in participation and highlighting underrepresented groups within PPNs. Through a thorough desk review and a survey of current PPN members, we identified five key groups with notably low representation:
  • Young People
  • Ethnic Minorities (particularly Irish Travellers, Refugees, and Asylum Seekers)
  • LGBTQI+ Community
  • Ex-Offenders
  • People with Disabilities
The next phase of our research will involve direct consultations with organisations and individuals representing these groups. This approach aims to gain insights into the specific barriers that may hinder or limit participation in PPNs, directly informed by the experiences of those impacted.

Participating in the survey
Participation in this survey is entirely voluntary. If you decide to answer the questions you can still change your mind. You can stop at any time.

What we ask
This survey will ask about your age range, so that we can identify responses from young people. It will also ask which of the five key groups you represent/most identify with.

Data Privacy
All information you provide will be treated confidentially and kept anonymously. Only those within the ImpactReady division at S3 Solutions will have access to the survey data.

What we do with the information you provide
Information gathered via this survey is for the purpose of informing DRCD, information will not be used for any other purpose. The survey will take you approximately 5 minutes to complete, but it's ok if it takes longer. If you feel there are other questions or information that would help us, please add these at the end of the survey.

Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey. We greatly appreciate your input.
