Opening Minds through Art (OMA) Funding Application 2021 - 2024 |
Apply for DMAS CMP funds to Adopt OMA at your Nursing Home (10 min)
LeadingAge Virginia has been awarded a three-year grant by DMAS and the Civil Monetary Penalty Reinvestment Program (CMPRP) to expand the best-practice program, Opening Minds through Art (OMA), carried out by Art for the Journey.
OMA is an award-winning, evidence-based, intergenerational art-making program for people with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of neurocognitive disorders. Its failure-free program provides opportunities for creative self-expression and social engagement for people with (and without) dementia. All older adults find success and gratification in the program.
The funding provides for up to 102 Virginia long-term care communities with SNF units to receive certification training and startup funding.
Eligible communities will receive two scholarships for staff members to attend the OMA Facilitator Training (valued at $2,000) and $2,000 to purchase art supplies upon completion of the training.
We look forward to introducing you to OMA!
