Introduction & Instructions

Thank you for taking the time to complete the RYG Backyard Chicken Survey!

Our intent is to gather as much helpful information about raising chickens as possible...and then share it in a way that will help build a stronger, more informed backyard chicken community. So anything you share would be greatly appreciated!

The plan is to tabulate the results periodically in report form and share it with those of you who have completed the survey. We will also do research and publish posts to RYGblog on the topics that appear to be of greatest interest to our community.

A few comments & instructions for completing the survey:
  • WARNING: This is NOT a short survey. But please don't let that dissuade you from completing it. We've tried our best to make it easy to complete, while being exhaustive in what we're asking to make it optimally helpful. So, if you have the time...grab your beverage of choice and settle in. But if you only have time to slam through it, go right ahead...we'd love to hear what you have to say too! (Just FYI, it seems to be taking people 30 or so minutes complete. I told you it's not short! So thanks!)
  • If you don't finish in one sitting, no worries...the survey should let you pick back up where you left off.
  • If you come to a question that you don't want to answer...or don't have an answer for...no biggie. It's more about what you have to say than what you don't have to say. So just keep moving!
  • Please consider answering "why or why not?" when asked. This is where folks might find some of the most helpful information.
  • At the end of the survey you'll have an opportunity to provide us any information we didn't ask about, as well as make suggestions on topics you'd like for us to cover on future surveys.
  • Lastly, for those of you who are just thinking about raising chickens or just started...we're so glad you're here! Clearly you won't have answers to most of the questions, but that's okay...answer what you can. We'll be able to appropriately parse the information in a way that makes sense for everyone.
To participate and receive a copy of an aggregated report of the survey results, please provide us with your email address below. We'll put you on the list to get the report, as well as periodic summaries of other posts recently posted on RYGblog. (Note: We will NOT share your email address or personalized answers with anyone!)
