In 2018, the federal government awarded Protein Industries Canada $153 million to co-invest into collaborative R&D projects to accelerate innovation around plant-based ingredients and food. In 2021, an additional $20 million was awarded, bringing the total investment to $173 million. Protein Industries Canada has now fully invested all the funds into 52 collaborative projects and manages an investment portfolio of almost half a billion dollars.

In the 2022 federal budget, the Global Innovation Clusters were renewed for an additional five years, with each Cluster going through a competitive process to receive a new allocation of funds. In preparation for the next five years, Protein Industries Canada is asking members of the ecosystem for their thoughts on key areas related to:

1)     Innovation
2)     Scaling the Ecosystem
3)     Working with Protein Industries Canada

The results of the survey, and other stakeholder engagement, will help inform the proposal, as well as Protein Industries Canada’s priorities and operations for the next five years.

The survey will take three to five minutes and will provide valuable information to support the continued growth of Canada’s plant-based food, feed and ingredient ecosystem.

Let’s get started.
